Most major cities have a Children's museum with hands on fun displays for kids of all ages, a zoo, and aquarium or water park. Some costal cities have military museums with tanks or battle ships you can actually tour.
There are lakes, beaches and parks. I once met a mother with (2) children at a local park on the river, who's summer vacation was going to be spent seeing as many parks as they could squeeze in during the summer. They called it a park a day!

Spending time enjoying life with loved ones can keep relationships strong, helping you enjoy the good times more and helping you through the stress of the hard times. In fact, a study by the Arizona Department of Health and Human Services found that women who took vacations were more satisfied with their marriages.

Crystal River Manatees
Located in the heart of Florida’s Nature Coast, Crystal River is known for the manatees that flock to the area. It’s the only place in the US where visitors are legally allowed to swim with the creatures, and snorkeling tours will let you get up close.

My husband and I have made several trips to Branson, and will continue to go back. Silver Dollar City, just a few minutes outside Branson is a delight in every season.
The excessive heat of the summer of 2011 (I REALLY don't like the heat) did not keep us from having a great time in June. SDC has plenty of indoor shows that are top-notch (air-conditioned, of course), the BEST water rides to keep you cool and even a huge cavern to explore ~ all within the well-kept, tree-blessed park. The theme is old-timey and so very friendly. Many of the people who work in the park have been there quite a number of years, even decades (the park is 50 years old), so they are a wealth of information about the area's history.
And please don't fail to add December to your plans for Branson. Silver Dollar City is Christmas on steroids! My eyes still light up like a child's when we're there at Christmas, even after several Christmas trips to SDC. I usually end the evening standing before the most enormous Christmas tree with its music-coordinated dancing lights and whispering, "I believe!"
And on the days you aren't visiting SDC, Branson's shows are all highest quality and family friendly. Enjoy!

Hi There -
My name is Justin and my wife and I just purchased a week on ebay for Steele Hill South in New Hampshire. I've been looking at timeshares for the last year or two but it seemed so complicated that I always decided against it (and mind you I fly about 100,000 miles a year and time shares still seemed complicated...). We live right near Steele Hill and they allow their owners unlimited access to the pools and amenities. With a new kiddo the access to the pools alone seemed worth the $500/yr maintenance- the 78,000 rci points was an added bonus I'm just hoping I can actually use them. I've spoken to other owners who say that RCI makes it so difficult they have never used the "timeshare" portion of their membership in 10 years. Let's hope with a little education I will actually get some great vacations out of this!! We always show and tell how to use the RCI programs.

I know, I know, many of you most be thinking, "Oh no, here's another sucker!"
You especially might think that if you don't own a timeshare and you have heard the abundant amount of bad press the industry has received over the years.
However, Buying on the resale market, at greatly reduced price compared to paying full retail from a timeshare developer makes timeshare ownership a great way to save on vacations.

The Edenton Peanut Mill, built in 1909, was the tallest building in town and demonstrated the importance of the peanut industry to the town’s economy. Now thanks to a $2 million renovation assisted by a Historic Preservation Tax Credit, it still serves Edenton’s economy. The mill was refitted for a fitness center on the bottom floor and office space on the upper floors. Surviving peanut processing machinery was cleaned and preserved in place. Other historic features like original wainscoting and wood trim in the former office and metal fire doors were also retained. Partial height partitions and glazed walls were added to preserve views of the heavy timber framing and masonry construction. The reuse of this space preserves a regional landmark in this rural North Carolina town.

One of the best restaurants on Hilton Head. It is a little hole in the wall with some of the best sea food you will every eat. I go there as many times as I can when when on vacation. I recommend the Shack Attack, and their Catfish is really good too. If you do go, I recommend you get there between 1100 to 1115, because if you don't, you will be standing in line for at least a hour. Just writing this makes my mouth water. YUMMY!!!
